Low-Budget Winter Activities

It's winter! The snow is falling, the grass is covered, and it's cold. However, that doesn't mean the fun stops, but knowing that Christmas is coming, it may not be feasible for everyone to pay large amounts of money.


Outdoor Family Fun

Snow Play Day

  • Snowmen, forts, snow angels, or a family snowball target game

  • Bring out kitchen tools (measuring cups, spatulas) for snow sculpting

Tobogganing

  • Many city parks have free hills

  • Thermos of hot chocolate = instant upgrade

Outdoor Ice Skating

  • Community rinks are often free

  • “Skate + cocoa” makes it exciting even for beginners

Winter Nature Walk

  • Short walks in parks or trails

  • Turn it into a scavenger hunt: pinecones, animal tracks, icy leaves
