While the summer months grant kids the time to be kids, and the splash parks sure are fun to go to, there is a slight downfall to such a break. In those months, students often go without practicing vital skills that are needed for the upcoming year. This is known as summer learning loss and can be hard to navigate. However, there are many ways to prevent this.
Free Worksheets.
For students, there are many different free, printable worksheets that can be done for just an hour every few days to reignite the understanding they have built during the school year.
Fun Games
You could create a game yourself, the focus being on language and spelling or use one of the existing ones such a scrabble or Yahtzee
There are also many online resources dedicated to making fun math or other educational games, a quick google search can show many results for this
A Summer Camp
Considering many parents still have to work during the summer, it may work better to enrol your child into a summer camp that mixes both fun with learning, ensuring engaging days for your child while making up for any loss in learning.
