Many students have already received offers from Universities or Colleges; however, that is only one small part of the so-called battle. These institutions are a place for many to get on the path to the future, but grades and homework can only take you so far. There are many benefits of joining post-secondary schools, and so many are ignored because of tendencies to have a one-track mind, so here is your outline and things you may want to look out for while you are entering this very exciting chapter.
First:
Experience! This is the most important part of University besides the grades. Have as many experiences as you can, go to that pep rally, participate in 'Frosh' week, talk to the person who sits next to you.
Second:
Be friendly yet respectful to your professors! They are people too, and it can greatly help you if your professor knows who you are. If you build a great relationship with them, this may come in handy when the class gets tough or when you need a reference!
Third:
Join groups if you can. Like-minded people are not too hard to come by; things such as clubs or library study hours may greatly increase your ability to meet people, gain other perspectives, and teamwork, as well as make you feel comfortable within your new placement!
Fourth:
When you are eligible, try to find a way to get professional experience through your school. A lot of schools have professional experience options for summers or part-time throughout the year. This is one of the most important aspects of university, as professional experience can greatly increase your ability to find a job in the future.
Overall, network! Network! Network!
Finding people and being friendly to them can open many doors in the future. People are how we can connect in so many ways, so try your best to shed shyness; it only does a disservice to the wonderful person behind it!
