Free to Low-Cost Summer Activities

In the summer season, two months can often stretch quite long, meaning kids can get antsy. There are activities all over the GTA, but not all of them are as cost-efficient as the others. We understand that parents cannot always have endless funds for activities, so here is a compiled list of free to low-cost opportunities throughout the summer.

Free:

  • Community spaces and rec centers often offer free recreational activities for all ages

  • Parks

  • Publicly opened splash pads (Finch and Bishop/Spadina and Wedrick)

  • Community gardens (Beautiful and allow for kids to ask about agriculture)

  • The City of Toronto website offers free activities

  • Free movie showings (https://www.todocanada.ca/free-outdoor-movies-summer-toronto-gta/)

  • Beaches located in Ontario can be as close as fifteen minutes and as far as an hour, makes for a great day trip

  • Free public concerts

Low-Cost

  • Markets (such as St. Lawrence’s Market) to browse

  • Royal Ontario Museum

  • Riverdale Farm

  • Farmer's Markets (Reese or 19th Avenue are great ones)

There are so many options to fill your days with that don't require a ton of funds. Hopefully, this list is useful in your adventures this summer. And don't forget to learn something new everywhere you go!
