What Parents Can Expect from Tutoring

Before signing your child up for tutoring you may be wondering what there is to expect and how your child can benefit.

The first point would be the option of having one-on-one tutoring, during this hour they are given individual attention to help work through any questions that may arise through doing diverse sets of problems. How we work is we often ask if there is any homework from school and once they are finished with that we will supply more materials, especially if we notice or have been informed of an area that requires extra attention. This can enhance their ability to problem-solve individually as well as feel more confident in the work that is done outside of tutoring hours.

Safe environment to learn is another key aspect. Instead of having a class full of 15-20 other children, the space of tutoring allows for mistakes and growing from them free of judgement. We are constantly observing all actions that surrounds us to ensure that this type of space is created so that all students brought here can thrive and make healthy connections to their peers.

One thing that we have collected from feedback of our Thornhill family is how many children feel more comfortable around adults in teaching positions due to tutoring. Having qualified and interpersonal tutors really make a difference when teaching. Being able to connect and communicate effectively with students and vice versa greatly increases their ability to feel comfortable within learning and asking questions.

Finally, you can expect open communication between tutor and parent so that the student can reach their full potential. We examine any area that needs help and then we put all our focus on getting over that challenge. Dedication and perseverance is what can be expected from our business.
