Why AI Can't Outweigh the Benefits of Traditional Learning

We know that AI is the master of knowledge but the connecting is the real problem, being able to apply topics learned in real-world contexts takes a certain human perspective. With AI making giant waves all across the world, it may seem enticing to rely on this tool for education and other purposes, however, it may not be all that wise, especially if you are younger. Adapting to the technological age that we are in is not an easy feat but not exercising brain can cause a lot of difficulties in building a problem-solving mind. Learning is not simply just the content being absorbed but an environmental experience of the classroom or tutoring centres, being able become immersed into their studies is an extremely important factor as it can allow material to stick better. As a tutoring business, we pride ourselves on continuing with traditional paper learning, while we may need access to google classrooms on occasion, we prioritize learning in a way that will create true understanding rather than a quick internet answer just to jot down for homework. We do understand that technology has a formidable part of society but it must be taken into account the differences we are experiencing and what methods work rather than are easier. Take this example: If you use chatgpt to tell you how to swim, you can study it all you want, learn each type of style, but if you were to fall in the water, would you feel confident in your swimming ability? Whereas if you were to take swimming classes at a local centre, you would likely building confidence to actually be able to swim. This is what is needed to be considered for our and our children's futures and make sure they continue learning as best they can.
