With the new technology and the concepts that are being brought forward, it is no secret that the Canadian school system is changing.
In the last 25 years, schools have become more focused on teaching children how to become prominent members of society through a variety of different approaches.
Most notably, it has been a focus of tech in schools. Programming and technological literacy may begin as early as grade 1 and most definitely within grade 2. This is to prepare them for future technological advancements; however, many have spoken out about their concern regarding the matter overtaking traditional learning time.
There is also a deeper focus on home and trade skills with cooking classes, workshops, and more club opportunities opening as children continue their educational journey.
Positively, there has begun to be a deep focus on financial literacy, ensuring future generations are not ill-equipped with banking and monetary needs in the future.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion has also made its impact on current teachings, adding culturally diverse subjects and increasing national knowledge at a direct level.
All of these changes are coming fast, but there are often reasons behind this. The educational landscape is constantly adjusting to new technology and new generations. While traditional learning continues to make an impact in schools, there has been a development towards preparing children for all skills that allow them to become more prepared.
